ABOUT US

THE CAR

Named after the World War 2 fighter plane Ford took the American market by surprise with the introduction of the Mustang in 1964. Initial sales projections of below 100 thousand units for the first year were surpassed in the first 3 months. This caught not only the competition off guard but also Ford as well. The Mustang created not only a new market segment, the Pony Car, but also a genuine motoring icon.

There were continuous updates and improvements to the model and the range however the first major redesign was for the 1967 model. This model widely regarded as the peak of the design; it represented the last of taught lines before the more ungainly shape of later models took over.

The 67’s influence, especially in Fastback form, cannot be overstated. It goes beyond simply car design and crosses over into pop culture appearing in photos shoots and magazines selling everything from jeans to aftershave. The Fastback’s most obvious association is in 1968 with Steve McQueen and Bullitt but the model has outgrown the cliché to appear for a new generation from films such as Gone in 60 Seconds to Fast and the Furious.

The ’67 design and iconic status heavily influenced the shape and subsequent successful relaunch of the Mustang in 2004.

This particular Fastback was built in 1967 at the Dearborn plant. This is a C code car, leaving the factory with the 289 2 Valve V8. As part of the car’s history file is the original dealer receipt showing the name and address of the first owner who purchased the car on the 28th of July 1967 from Williams Motor Co. Inc. of Berea Ohio.

In spite of the huge influence this model year has in design and pop culture the Fastback made up just 15% of the production numbers of 1967. This car is one of the genuine survivors of this shape and comes with a  rich history.

In more recent years the car has been subject to an extensive range of restoration and modification to create the amazing car seen in the photos and described in the specification below.
